Devialet Astra introduced

In May 2010, Devialet launched its first amplifier, the D-Premier, introducing the world to ADH technology. Fourteen years and over 250 patents later, the French acoustic engineering company presents the Devialet Astra.

Designed in Paris and assembled in France, this new amplifier delivers multiple connectivity options and bespoke configuration. Beneath the Astra’s ultra-compact, brushed-aluminum monolith, which integrates a screen and two buttons, Devialet’s most advanced audiophile system features a preamplifier, amplifier, DAC, streamer, and phono stage.

Devialet Astra offers minimal distortion, 2 x 300 Watts of power (at 4 Ohms) in solo mode, 2 x 600 Watts (at 4 Ohms) in dual configuration, and a frequency response that extends to its farthest limits. It also features the latest generation of proprietary ADH (Analog Digital Hybrid) technology. A cornerstone of Devialet’s heritage, this technology harnesses the linearity and refinement of analog amplification (Class A) with the power and compactness of digital amplification (Class D).

Energy dissipation and thermal management are radically optimized. Efficiency is also enhanced. Combined with a new calibration process, these features enable the achievement of fine and precise high frequencies, earning the amplifier a Hi-Res certification.

SAM (Speaker Active Matching) technology accurately adapts the audio signal to the unique specs of passive speakers, preserving their acoustic signature in real time. Drawing on data from a library of 1,200 passive loudspeaker profiles, this technology guarantees seamless signal processing for perfect temporal alignment between the recorded signal and the acoustic pressure generated by loudspeakers.

RAM (Record Active Matching) technology dynamically adjusts the EQ. The phono stage becomes entirely configurable, adapting to fit the exact characteristics of any turntable or vinyl record for optimal performance. Users can also set default volume levels and limits.

By integrating the digital-to-analog converter (DAC) directly into the heart of the ADH amplifier, Magic Wire technology reduces the distance the signal travels in its analog form to 5 cm, thereby minimizing signal degradation. The result is sound reproduction where background noise and distortion are controlled as desired.

Devialet Astra runs under the new Devialet DOS3 operating system, designed to support all current and future Devialet products, unifying them within a single ecosystem and interface. It also enables seamless integration of a range of streaming protocols on the Astra: AirPlay, Google Cast, Roon Ready, Spotify Connect, Tidal, and UPnP, coupled with the latest wireless technologies (WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3).

Using the app and the Advanced Configurator, the Astra can be configured with precise settings tailored to every audiophile setup and preference. Input selection, volume control, phono stage settings, stereo balance, dual-band equalizer, power modes, configuration preferences, and screen brightness: the app serves as a control tower, providing access to a wide range of settings directly from a smartphone or tablet, while also facilitating the installation of updates as Devialet evolves.

Available online from the Devialet website, the Advanced Configurator has been fully redesigned. The interface enables users to register over twenty custom settings. This includes the SAM Ready database, which compiles over 1,200 passive loudspeaker profiles from around the globe, gathered and tested over more than a decade.

Devialet Astra adapts the amplifier’s signal to match the exact characteristics of the selected loudspeakers. It also allows users to configure the Astra inputs and outputs. The rear connectors are multimode and fully configurable to maximize any sound setup, including coaxial, optical, USB-C, analog line and phono, Ethernet, and dual-band Wi-Fi.

To accompany this launch, Devialet has partnered with the Paris Opera to present the Devialet Astra - Opéra de Paris: This collaboration features a gold-adorned version of each Devialet product, echoing the gilding of the Palais Garnier. The 23-carat gold leaf is hand-applied by the master gilders of Ateliers Gohard. These numbered editions feature an exclusive new finish, developed as part of the longstanding partnership between Devialet and the Opéra de Paris.

Devialet Astra Light Bronze models are available at the price of $21,000 (solo configuration) or $42,000 (dual configuration), respectively. Devialet Astra - Opéra de Paris models are available at the price of $27,000 (solo configuration) or $54,000 (dual configuration), respectively.
